How much does eBay take from a sale?
For most categories, eBay charges a 13.6% final value fee plus $0.40 per order ($0.30 for orders of $10 or less). The percentage applies to the whole order total, including the shipping the buyer pays and any sales tax eBay collects. Some categories are higher or lower, and an eBay Store lowers the rate in many categories.
Does eBay charge fees on shipping?
Yes. The final value fee and general promoted listing fee are calculated on the full amount the buyer pays, including shipping and handling. Offering free shipping and raising the item price by the same amount results in about the same fees.
Does eBay charge fees on sales tax?
Yes. eBay includes the sales tax it collects in the amount it charges fees on, even though that tax is passed on to the state and never becomes your money.
Is an eBay Store worth it for lower fees?
It depends on your categories and volume. The Store discount is small in most categories but large in electronics, phones, cameras, consoles, and coins. Compare the fees you would save each month against the subscription price.
What fees are not included?
This calculator covers the standard final value fee, the per-order fee, and general (cost-per-sale) promoted listings. It does not include insertion fees beyond your free listings, optional listing upgrades, international fees, below-standard seller surcharges, or higher-value fee tiers.
