Reseller recordkeeping guide
A simple mileage system for resellers
Mileage records are easiest to keep when the habit is attached to the trip itself—not reconstructed months later from memory.

What to record
For each business trip, keep the date, distance, business purpose, and destination or route. A sourcing trip might include an estate sale, thrift store, auction pickup, or several stops; the purpose should be specific enough to understand later.
- Date
- Miles driven
- Business purpose
- Destination or route
- Related sourcing trip or notes
Build the habit around arrival
Record the trip when you park or return home. Waiting until month-end turns a ten-second entry into a reconstruction project. If a trip mixes personal and business travel, record only the business portion and keep a note explaining the split.
Keep mileage beside the rest of the business
Mileage affects the overall view of the business even though it does not belong to one sold item. FlipHall keeps mileage with expenses, inventory, and sales so item profit and business-level profit remain distinct.
Tax rules and rates can change. Use your log as organized source data and confirm the treatment that applies to you with current official guidance or a qualified tax professional.
Put the system to work.
